Baby Talk

Anna: Mom, what's that? Can I play with it? Will it hurt me? Maybe I should stick next to you . . .

Anna: Wow, look at this! Can I eat it? Yuck. Doesn't taste very good.

Anna: Moooommm, I'm hungry!

Anna: Auntie Chloe, can I chew on your tail? Ewww! Why'd you spit on me??

Anna: I bet I can run to the other side faster than you, Ipo!

Anna: Auntie Jubilee, why are you just lying there? Can I climb on top of you? Can I? Ewww! Why'd you spit on me??

Anna: Oh! Look! What is it? Maybe if I sneak up on it -- Eeek! It went up in the air! Mom!!!

Anna, yawning: I'm sleepy . . . .

The Newest Arrival

Ipo: What's Georgia all bent out of shape about?

Jubilee: Oh, she just hurts.

Ipo: Why? What happened?

Chloe: Nothing, she's just being a big cry-baby. Ignore her.

Jubilee: You'll find out one day, when you're older.

Ipo: Not me! I don't want to hurt. WHAT'S THAT??

Chloe, sighing: She has to make another brat, doesn't she? Isn't it enough that we have to deal with HER all the time?

Jubilee: That's Georgia's new baby.

Ipo stares, eyes wide: Wow. How'd she do that?

Chloe, rolling her eyes: Don't ask! She'll just go on and on and on about it.

Jubilee: You'll find out one day, when you're older.

Georgia: Welcome to the world, little one.

For Rachelle

Mom alpaca: The two-legger is watching. Do it again.

Baby alpaca: How many times do I have to pretend to go?

Mom alpaca: Just a couple more times . . .

A while later -

Baby alpaca: Mom, I really have to go now. Can I? Please?

Mom alpaca: Sure, sweetie. You go ahead. And watch the two-legger.

Baby alpaca: Ahhhh! This feels better . . . uh . . what's it doing?

The baby alpaca watches wide-eyed as the two-legger hops and dances around, flinging its arms through the air and whooping loudly.

Mom alpaca: Not sure. But it's worth waiting for.

Goodbye, Drake

Ipo: Where's Drake going? Why are the two-leggers leading him into the riding box?

Jubilee: Dunno.

Chloe: They're not bringing him back, I don't think. They took his hay with him.

Ipo: Drake's not coming back? How come? Where's he going?

Jubilee: Dunno.

Chloe: Probably somewhere with lots and lots of pellets. Lucky guy.

Ipo: I don't want him to go! Drake! Come back!! Why does he have to go away? Did he do something wrong?

Jubilee: Dunno.

Chloe: Just happens sometimes. They leave and don't come back.

Ipo: Drake! Drake!!!

Jubilee: I'm sure he'll like his new place.

Ipo, sighing: Goodbye, Drake . . .
